Before you is Fernand Léger's ceramic panel Women with a Parrot, created in the 1950s. It consists of 77 tiles and measures nearly four meters high and six meters wide.

Fernand Léger was one of the key masters of French modernism, a founder of Cubism, and the creator of his own style known as Tubism. His forms resemble pipes and machines, while bright colours and strong geometry make his works vivid and accessible.

Imagine Paris at the start of the 20th century: bustling streets, glowing storefronts, the rhythm of automobiles, and the arrival of new technologies. Léger became the artist of this industrial age. But he also dreamed of a democratic art accessible to everyone. This is why many of his works, including mosaics, stained glass, and murals, were created for public spaces, not just museums.

Smaller versions of Women with a Parrot can be found worldwide: in the Yale University Art Gallery, the Miami Art Museum, and the Musée Fernand Léger in France, which houses the first black-and-white ceramic version from 1951.

Another variation was acquired by the legendary restaurant La Colombe d'Or in Saint-Paul-de-Vence.
