The Almaty Museum of Arts is set to host its first-ever Museum Night! The program features an insightful lecture, a musical performance by German Popov, the Aşyq Şeberhana art workshop, and the Nobai drawing club.

Admission is free from 6:00 PM to midnight.

Today we are all video artists to some extent, but how do we distinguish the routine flow of visuals from a conscious artistic gesture? We will explore the role of the moving image in our lives, from brief smartphone clips to immersive museum installations. Join us as we examine how video art engages with our perception of time and why understanding the mechanics of the frame is as essential today as basic literacy.

Musical Performance by German Popov (hourly timeslots)

Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and researcher German Popov presents a curated programme that bridges traditional Eastern motifs with modern experimental sonic processing. The performance features a multimodal selection, including vinyl sets and tracks from his acclaimed albums, with a particular focus on his collaborative works with Almagul Menlibayeva.

Central Asian Video Art Screening

This screening presents a selection of video works by Almagul Menlibayeva and other prominent artists from Central Asia, demonstrating the impressive scope of the medium. We will explore the concept of evolution within the frame, how artistic concepts are articulated through both classical narrative structures and the rhythmic flow of movement.

Nobai, drawing club

We will be producing sketches (nobai), employing a variety of techniques for a deeper exploration of Almagul Menlibayeva’s artistic practice.

Aşyq Şeberhana: Paper weavings, for all ages
