Finissage programme for Almagul Menlibayeva’s Exhibition I Understand Everything

Between 15 and 17 May, Almaty Museum of Arts will present a series of events marking the finissage of the exhibition I Understand Everything by Almagul Menlibayeva. The schedule comprises tours guided by the artist, public discussions, film screenings, and diverse activities.

13:00 - Januyalyq Jeksenbі: Grattage (for families, at Şeberhana)

Join us for Januyalyq Jeksenbi inspired by the artistic practice of Almagul Menlibayeva, where we will create original works using the grattage technique, scratching intricate patterns through layers of vibrant color.

12:00 and 15:00 - Artist-led tour with Almagul Menlibayeva

13:00 - 14:00 - Musical Performance by German Popov (hourly timeslots)

Multi-instrumentalist, composer, and researcher German Popov presents a curated programme that bridges traditional Eastern motifs with modern experimental sonic processing. The performance features a multimodal selection, including vinyl sets and tracks from his acclaimed albums, with a particular focus on his collaborative works with Almagul Menlibayeva.

16:30 - Screening of the film Baksy

As part of the finissage for the exhibition I Understand Everything, there will be a screening of the film Baksy, for which Almagul Menlibayeva served as the production designer. The artist will share her reflections on the production process and discuss how her cinematic experience informs her broader artistic practice.
