As part of the “Şejırelı Qūlaq Küi” project, a screening and discussion of the documentary film “Teacher - Student: The Disruption of Continuity in the Küişi Tradition” will take place.
The film’s protagonist is renowned küişi, professor, and Honored Figure of Kazakhstan, Bilal Ysqaq.
The grandson of the great küyşi Tattimbet, the elder Şaiqy, once told young Bilal: “You are my letter. You are the letter I am writing to the future.”
A fragment of that noble lineage, Bilal - who learned the art of küі from Şaiqy - has today become an elder of Kazakh küi art and a mentor himself.
